Who We Are

From a small Hindi medium school to a brand name in the field of education – the school has covered a long, successful journey –

1934

School was founded by Shri Shwetamber Sthanakwasi Jain Sabha at 142A, Cross Street with just one student and a single teacher. First Managing Committee was created.

1945

Relocated to 186, Jamunalal Bajaj Street upto Class V

1958

Relocated to 18/D Sukeas Lane. School recognized as a Higher Secondary School.

1960

School’s Managing Committee recognized by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.

1976

English became the medium of instruction.

1978

First batch of Higher Secondary students passed out with a 100% success rate in Science and Commerce.

1984

Completed 50 years. Celebrated Golden Jubilee on 15th January amid 15,000 spectators at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata. Started school canteen.

1987

First Headmaster Sri Ramanand Tiwari retired after 30 years.

1994

Completed 60 years. Celebrations held on 25th December at Netaji indoor stadium with TN Seshan (the then Chief Election Commissioner of India) in attendance and Renuka Choudhary (Former Honourable Member of Parliament) as Chief Guests. Pigeon Mail Services inaugurated on 23rd December, 1994 by General Manager, D.M. Sarkar, Kolkata Honourable Minister-in-charge, Sports and Youth Welfare; Government of West Bengal, Subhas Chakraborty; and Chief Guest T.N.Seshan ,Chief Election Commissioner of India. Inauguration of Bimla Mini Computer Center. Compulsory classes from Classes V to XII.

1996

Introduced multimedia and internet as teaching devices (computer education).

1998

Achieved highest record in Secondary and Higher Secondary examinations. Over 80% students selected in joint entrance examination and other competitive exams.

2000

Introduced Saturday and Sunday revision tests before Secondary and Higher Secondary Examinations.

2007

Proposal to construct an annexe. The project was carried out with the help of Kishore Kothari (Joint Secretary, Shree S. S. Jain Sabha). Modern science and computer laboratories transferred to the annexe.

2009

Celebrated Platinum Jubilee. Introduced Smart Classes
